James Haydon Scores Double Sevens in Opening Round
Lexelle-sponsored British Superbike contender James Haydon scored two seventh place finishes at the opening round of the series at Brands Hatch this weekend. The Rizla Suzuki rider said “We were up against it at Brands. The team was at a little bit of a disadvantage going into the first round as we hadn’t had a lot of testing time – the bikes arrived late and some of our sessions had been cancelled due to bad weather.
“Having qualified in ninth – my time was very close to Ryuichi Kiyonari and Shane Byrne. I got a good start in race one but after going onto the grass, fell back to 20th. When the race was called due to an accident, I had made my way up to seventh. It wasn’t a bad result.”
“The second race was the hardest I have ever ridden! The weather was unpredictable and I chose slick tyres (like the rest of the field), but it started to rain mid-way through the race! All I could do was bring the machine home safely. I finished the second race in seventh again – which was great considering.
“I know that we can build on the result from Brands and we can only get better and better now. We have more work to do on the bike and I know we can only improve our times.”
